back to the 80's

Channeling the 80's powerwoman with a powershoulder jacket, neon/black wayfarers and a DIY nighty to romper. Cinching the waist with the elastic belt will add curves to those that want a curvier silhouette. The shoes are one of the least 80's of the look, but let's call this one a modernized powerwoman of the decade that brought us more than our share of neon, tapered leg, scrunchies and shoulder pads. The DIY I mentioned is actually part of a pajama set that was too large and pretty much hangs like a tent dress. I basically safety pinned it in the middle at the very bottom to achieve this romper look. I'll probably just sew it and make it a permanent thing, since I'll get more wear out of it that way. Plus, it's super light and comfy and perfect for summer weather, night or day :)

nailin it

This is basically what happens when I'm superbored. It's also really handy to have those nail art brushes for those creative moments for someone like me. Thank goodness my cuticles don't look like hell. Next time I'll try something other than lines.

Oh, the weekend fast approaches. Must. Go. Swimming.

topshop. is. here.

This is exactly what it sounds/looks like. Jonathan+Olivia on Ossington, here in Toronto, are the first exclusive store to bring in TopShop. This is surprising as TopShop does so well all over the place and has been in high demand in Canada, they should just have their own stand alone store. Either way, these are tears of joy today people!

For those who want to join me in the morning with a cup of coffee to stand in line,
it all goes down (and debts up? lol) on June 19, 9:00am.

dear raggamuffin

I'm seriously diggin' Selah Sue and her sound. Of course, it's not to be imitated as she's on her own level, unique and talented. One thing for sure I love this song, partially taken from the Rascalz - Top of the World, and I couldn't resist covering Raggamuffin.
No where up to par with Miss Sue, but I like to think of this as my own sound :)

Last 10 songs to play on my blackberry (almost taking over my iPod :/)

Picked up a couple really cute items over the weekend for a total of 7 bucks! The shirt, with little sketches of cute heels, and the wide belt were such a score and I couldn't resist :) I'd say that's impulse shopping without any regret! The shoes match the belt right on, with the back elastic beige part complimenting the cork coloured wedge.
The only thing I wish is that my skirt had pockets.

Well, the long weekend is over (as I hear fireworks going on outside)
and back to the work week I go.

back for good

I can't believe I've been slacking in posts, but I've been either not feeling quite myself or just busy, as life tends to get. Anyways, I'm hoping I don't have another hiatus quite like that again. Had a nice little get-together with the girls downtown :) Luckily, the weather is more springlike these days and I didn't regret wearing shorts. I also thought the outfit, with the long sleeved shirt, was a way of toning down the girl girl and making it more casual... not to mention its super thin material and is so comfy! Well, I look forward to more posts this week and sharing some of what I like to do, including some more art, design and maybe some music. :)

time to shmooze

I haven't posted lately due to feeling under the weather, which unfortunately came at a time when the weather is now gorgeous out. Luckily it's more of just a stuffy nose than anything else and it won't stop me from having a great long weekend. But goooood news. They've arrived! My minicards, that is. The time to network has started :) It was only my first order and I wasn't sure about ordering various designs, but now I know for next time. How fab do they look? and with the snazzy keychain card holder to boot! For anyone interested in getting these done go to The prices and the selection they have are fantastic and you can obviously go the other route and design your own, like yours truly ;)

what is your style?

Fierce. Strong. Bold.

Soft. Subtle. Romantic.
Club Monaco

Downtown. Daring. Fresh.
Rachel Rachel Roy

I could identify with any one of these outfits as we shouldn't be categorized into one genre of clothes. I've developed an attraction to prints, especially the really cool hooded Rachel Rachel Roy dress at the bottom. So chic, comfortable and casual in one. The Club Monaco looks are definitely date-worthy, though I would probably also opt for the second Rachel Rachel Roy look with the yellow tank ( I love these colours!). The bold colours of the BCBG dresses are very hot summer evening looks, with an accompanying bold shoe, or even some nude platforms that would make your legs look KILLER! Either way... I could definitely make room in my closet for any of these items!

effin edgy

Edgy with femininity and a touch of military with the shoulder embellishment. These Aldo shoes match the socks perfectly, not that it's necessary. I'm thinking now, opting for a dark top would've balanced it out more.

Looks like its gonna be a nice week and an amazing weekend! Can't wait!

all she wants to do is dance

I did say I'd be rocking these tights soon enough! Went out last night and had one of those purely awesome nights with some good company and music. Just as awesome, someone instantly recognized my tights and asked where I got them! Yes, I had to go out of my way and order the from another continent but in the end it was all worth it. I must say, I wasn't entirely prepared or sure as to how to put the look together so I got my idea from Nicole Warne at Gary Pepper Vintage. She runs an online vintage clothing shop and is truly a uniquely stylish lady =)

So by next week, I should have my Canon RC-1 remote shutter and perhaps even a tripod =) I'm so excited! On top of that, my minicards from should be coming in soon, as well. I can't wait to show them off an more importantly, actually network with those babies! I'm planning on a few things happening, and this blog is not only a fashion and art diary, but a networking portal for everyone to be a part of vibe.rant. I have some designs that have been sitting pretty for a very long time and I think it's time to get that ball rolling soon. If all goes well, perhaps I'll have you all to thank.

Some more art of mine I thought I'd share. I really do enjoy painting/drawing faces with this hidden pain. I never really thought about it, and am usually quite carefree, but maybe this is a subconscious message to myself from within. I've denied it, but perhaps I'm not ready to release the words and just the pictures.

I love walking in the rain, because no one knows I'm crying. (Anonymous)

Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever. (The Crow)

The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears. (John Vance Cheney)

leopard scarf. leopard + scarf. I heart scarf. I heart leopard.

I don't own many animal prints, but out of the ones I do I think I'm attracted to leopard the most. This is probably because it's a smaller busier print. It looks fantastic in all sorts of colours, and it must be said, is one of the sexiest animal prints ever! (I don't see giraffe print lingerie very Of course, I was super happy to find the leopard print scarf at Zara, but even better because it doubled as a plaid print on the other side :) I guess plaid and leopard print oddly go together? Without even thinking about that scarf, I paired my leopard print top with my plaid scarf yesterday... and it worked! It's getting nice out now, so I'm looking forward to accessorizing with my lighter silk scarves.

Chic for cheap!

Don't we all want to keep a little bit in our wallets and still look simply glamourous? For something evening casual/glam I put together this look for an entire price of $97.68!! Less than $100 and you have your top to bottom look that would obviously do over with other mix and matchings from your own closet. If you consider what you are wearing right now, you would realize that your outfit actually cost more than you think! So for less than a bill for an entire look is pretty darn amazing.

I pulled these items from Forever 21, Aldo, Payless Shoes, and American Apparel.

O Spring, Spring! wherefore art thou so cold?
Deny thy frost and refuse thy wind!

So, it's been up and down, cold then rainy, then sunny but windy... what's bloody summer gonna look like? I already put my winter stuff in storage and I refuse to go back and get it. We all make plans every year as to how we would like to spend our summers but it's just impossible to do that anymore. Perhaps being optimistic this time around will have better results? I highly doubt it. But here's to hoping! Regardless, I'm wearing my spring/summer duds. Blah!

shiny disco...blazer

The black sequined blazer is almost reminiscent of the black Topshop power shoulder one I posted a little while ago (minus the checkered silver/black pattern... ok and minus the power shoulder... ok maybe they're completely different O_o). If the shoulder's had more room-I'm sure I could make some-I could make a power shoulder in these. A little DIY that most probably could be found online. My skirt, with the exposed zipper down the front, is the most awesome pattern you could find on a skirt (the pictures won't do it justice..). It's little skull/crossbone print, with "paint" splatter print OVER purple+black leopard print. My DIY necklace came from a keychain. I never find a V charm for a necklace anywhere, but this will hold me until I do. Alrighty... enough of this straight hair business. I'm going back to my curls!

May 27th - Sex and the City 2 with my ladies =)

Thanks Chictopia and fellow Chictopians!

This is awesome :) I made the first page of the style gallery on Chictopia! Thanks to all the awesome stylish ladies who commented! Beyond cool and totally appreciated.
Lovin' it.

inhale, exhale

Shoes have come a long way and throughout history became more than just used for function and protection. If you've ever heard of The Bata Shoe Museum (which I'm lucky it's here in Toronto) you can physically see the evolution of footwear from all corners of the earth. From foot binding in China to foot-high platform sandals in the Middle East, today's catwalk really has nothing on the past (though we do "borrow" a thing or two). The more extreme the shoe, the higher the class you were in some cultures. Now, a lot of styles as it was before, are so sought after... not because of class necessarily (anyone can give up rent for a pair of Louboutins-not me)... but because we are still so enchanted and enthralled by the design of an article of clothing simply adorning our feet. Is that a funny part of the evolution of mankind? We went from creating/designing the most useful of inventions to making pretty shoes. To those who really appreciate it, it honestly makes us happy. Just ask Amel DeMarco!

Anyhoo, I want these Balenciaga Mary Janes. 'Nuff Said.
(Fall 2006, I believe, but on fire!)

Probably the funniest thing I ever bought for the purpose of actually wearing. As you can see close-up, it's not just some giant pattern on my t-shirt. It's actually (Cosmo) Kramer heads all over. Yes, really. Why? Because it probably made you make some kind of a face or laugh (if not out loud, then probably really quietly...inside). It's really no other reason! Tina Alouze from Hidden Pony Vintage has some great finds, and you can check out her items here.

Peace all! xo

going once, going twice

'Twas a great Monday for 3 reasons. I spent the day with my daughter, though she was home with a cough, I won 4 buckaroos on Cash For Life (I'm not complaining! Free ticket :D), and I also won (down to the last 3 seconds, LITERALLY) an eBay bid. I never really knew the feeling of wanting something so bad, but when it comes to vintage it's really one-of-a-kind. I think if everyone had to choose to buy something online, on an auction, they could differentiate between the things they truly love and desire and the things they wouldn't mind seeing go. Would probably save people from a closet full of clothes with the tags still on them. We probably buy half the things we own on impulse, physically being in an environment made to suck your wallet dry. That is why it's so good to bargain hunt. And on that note, my denim blouse was a whole $2. Yes, that's right. One of thee most amazingly dirt cheap purchases for something brand new, and quite comfortable. That cost less than my morning latte!
